CTK Lunch Program
All About School Lunch
With the hiring of a new kitchen manager this year, Brandie VanArsdale, our school will be featuring some of the same great entrees but with a few new items that hopefully the students will find very good. We will still be offering more fruits and vegetable every day while transitioning to entirely whole grain-rich bread and pasta items, and reducing the amounts of saturated fats, trans fats, and sodium in our menu. As your students discuss the new school lunches, take advantage of these teachable moments to discuss healthy and balanced meals with him or her. You can visit www.eatsmartplayhard.org for news stories on schools in Kansas and www.traytalk.org/faqs/ for national stories.
Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) was established to ensure that low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session. Free meals, that meet Federal nutrition guidelines, are provided to all children 18 years old and under at approved SFSP sites in areas with significant concentrations of low-income children.
